23 Questions with Sew Sketchy:

1. What’s your current obsession? “Needlepointing. It soothes me.”

2. What’s a fashion trend that will never let you down? “Anything with rhinestones.”

3. What keeps you up at night? “Ghosts. Specifically, this one ghost that lives in my room that I’ve named Sheila. She can honestly get very annoying. I’m still trying to figure out her story and what she’s doing in my house!”

4. What’s (or who’s) your spirit animal? “One day my shaman told me to go on a fashion hiatus and find my inner spiritual force and power animal. He shook a rattle over my head and told me Hong Kong is where I would find it. I later realized that my power animal is a Llama. Llamas are a symbol of strength, perseverance, communication, confidence and success. According to my Shaman people who relate to this animal know exactly what their goal in life is.”

5. If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? “Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, and Anna Dello Russo. Specifically at my usual table at Indochine in New York City. (It’s the 2nd round table on the left)”

6. What do you think of Anna Wintour? “I mean, she’s a god. A literal fashion god sent from the heavens down to earth to push every boundary and discover every talent for the world to see. I swear if it wasn’t for Anna, then this entire world would look terrible or even worse, like a pair of crocs.”

7. What advice do you live by? “Don’t be so easily discouraged.” My favorite professor at Parsons told me that while I was throwing a literal tantrum because I couldn’t figure out how to sew a welt pocket. Those words calmed me down and it stuck with me.”

Fill in the blanks:

If I could describe myself only using two words that would be Chic and Fabulous. I have always had a passion for the arts and fashion. Growing up, I always wanted to be my own boss and have a career in fashion. If I could choose only one outfit for the rest of my life that would be an haute couture Marchesa dress that I wore at my best friends wedding with a pair of Miu Miu sparkly platforms and a Jimmy Choo clutch. People think that I am sassy but in reality I am smart. My favourite bar/lounge in Manhattan is Bemelmans at the Carlyle and my drink of choice is a dirty martini. My happiest moment this year was when I got engaged and my saddest one was taking the NYC subway. I think that people need to care about pursuing their talents more than they care about their Instagram likes. I feel most fearless when I’m in all black. And if I could give a piece of advice to all the aspiring fashionistas that would be don’t follow anyone’s path; create your own.
